Having covered most of the easily accessible canal walks, the next set of routes are on the River Thames, some of which are parts of the Thames Ring, as well as the River Stort and the River Lea. Follow the top menu or side menu links.
First up the Lea or Lee river.
Section 1. Bow Creek to Northumberland Park
Section 2. Northumberland Park to Waltham
Section 3. Waltham to Rye House (near to where I go kart racing
Section 4. Rye House to Hertford
Then we pop back to Rye House and follow the River Stort Navigation
Section 1. Rye House to Harlow Town
Section 2. Harlow Town to Bishops Stortford
The the mighty Thames. This was walked in various sections in out of sequence order, with some gaps where I had previously walked the river but without taking pictures. General sequence was central london heading east and then west.
Central London parts first.
Thames Path: Teddington to Kew (walked in reverse, not recorded)
Thames Path : Kew to Barnes
Thames Path : Barnes to Putney (not recorded)
Thames Path : Putney to Westminster
Thames Path : Westminster to Tower Bridge
Thames Path: Tower Bridge to Canary Wharf (not yet uploaded from May 2010)
Now the east section, going past the traditional end of the Thames Path at the Thames Barrier.
Thames Path : Canary Wharf to Blackwall
Thames Path : Blackwall to Woolwich
Thames Path : Woolwich to Erith Pier
Thames Path : Erith to Slade Green/Dartford
Thames Path : Dartford to Greenhithe
Thames Path : Greenhithe to Northfleet
After Northfleet, there are virtually no public transport links and the river heads away from most towns and cities for quite a stretch, making walking very difficult. So I have stopped the east walk here. I may try to continue it later from the Rochester area, further in the east.
So the path continues instead westwards.
Thames Path: Teddington to Kingston (not recorded)
Thames Path: Kingston to Hampton Court (not uploaded)
Thames Path : Hampton Court to Shepperton
Thames Path : Shepperton to Staines
Thames Path : Staines to Windsor
Thames Path : Windsor to Maidenhead
Thames Path : Maidenhead to Marlow
Thames Path : Marlow to Henley
Thames Path : Henley to Reading
Thames Path : Reading to Pangbourne
Thames Path : Pangbourne to Goring
Thames Path : Goring to Wallingford
And in 2016, the Thames walks towards the source continue:
Thames Path : Wallingford to Dorchester
Thames Path : Dorchester to Abingdon
Thames Path : Abingdon to Oxford
Thames Path : Oxford to Swinton
